Visit from Sir William Petty

Today Year 1 enjoyed a visit from Sir William Petty.

Sir William told the children about the Great Fire of London.

The children found out how to start a fire using a flint stone.

They found out where the Great Fire of London started on a map of the City and where the fire spread to.

The children took part in exercises to explore how and why the Great Fire spread over London.

They also found out how the people of London put out the fire by passing buckets along a line of people.

Year 1 created fabulous portraits of Sir William Petty and also wrote character descriptions.

What a great day!
